March Happenings - 2018

March was for sure a Missionary Month! Check out everyone who came to serve in Haiti with us. We had many missionaries doing different things here at TOHH.

We started this month off with Alan Roseberry coming with a small team. Alan came with his business partner Gary Spaulding and his brother in law David.  Alan and his team do plumbing jobs on the side. We are so grateful they gave up their time and resources to do plumbing here in Haiti.

Alan and his team connected the second water tank that holds an additional 1,000 gallons of water to our Community Water Tower and also the TOHH Guesthouse. This allows TOHH to give out double the amount we have previously given. We give out water daily and often times we are turning people away because the water runs out. Now, our community is so blessed to have double the water capacity. This also saves people from having to hike 3-5 miles down to the river and back up the mountain to get water that is not even clean.

The last thing they did was to install a water fountain in our Pavilion area. This has been such a blessing so that while children are playing they can stop and take a break to drink refreshing water. This also helps to re hydrate them during playing and sweating.

 ~ Carleen ~

Carleen has taken a special role with us here at TOHH. We mentioned back in January 2018 she has agreed to step into a Sponsorship Liaison position. Since we do not have a mailing system in Haiti, Carleen helps us to hand deliver sponsorship letters from Haiti and mail them in the States. Cassandra (TOHH long-term intern) has taken much time in training Carleen to enter children into our program and post them up on our website.

~ Tyler ~

Tyler Sones also joined us this month and will be staying with us till mid April. He has been a huge blessing helping Gama fix our vehicles, do maintenance on our generators, building benches, shelves, helping organize the tool storage room and so much more. Tyler helps where ever needed and we are happy to have him with us.

~ Karen ~

Let's not forget that in February Karen Baker came to help with Nathan's school and she is still with us doing a great job! Having Karen work with Nathan free's up Angela's time to work in TOHH office doing administrative tasks. Nathan is growing and thriving with Karen's help and we are so blessed to have her.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL OUR MARCH TOHH SPONSORED CHILDREN

Every month we have a BIG birthday celebration to celebrate our sponsored children's birthdays!  We believe it's important to tell our kids that God made them for a purpose and that your life is valued. Each child is so precious and special in their own way and we want to celebrate them.

Most people in Haiti do not know when their birthday is and definitely do not celebrate their birthday in any way shape or form unless they are more well off and have money. TOHH has made it their mission to give these kids something they would have not experienced other wise. We love to break out the balloons, banners, table clothes and give them, cupcakes, juice and a small gift. We have been doing this for almost two years here at TOHH. Our children are getting to know when their birthday is and they can't wait to come and celebrate it. God is love and our children are loved. Thank you for all your Birthday Donations. This is where it goes to as you see these happy faces!!

Easter Program

The last week in March was vacation for kids in Haiti. We saw this as a great opportunity to hold an Easter program with our community. So, everyday we gathered a group of kids and shared the Resurrection story of Jesus Christ and the kids made kites.

In Haiti, kite making is a big deal. Kids start learning how to make kites when they are very little and as they get older the kite making process gets more detailed and more intense. Take a look at a few of these photos from our littlest kids to our oldest kids and see the progression. It was so fun to see their excitement while making kites.

Good Friday is traditionally Kite flying day!

How many kites do you see flying in one spot? The whole sky is filled with kites on this day.

Saturday is Community Night

Saturday night we shared a Jesus film with those in our community to remember what sacrifice our Lord and Savior has made for us. All this week we have talked about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and the power of the cross during our Easter program. Many asked Jesus to come into their hearts and to live for Jesus. This is our joy and this is our purpose here in Haiti. (Proverbs 11:30 "The seeds of good deeds become a tree of life and those who win souls are wise.")

Do you want to help sending our sponsored kids back to school this fall!

Our Back-To-School donation drive is going on until April 30th. Check out the flyer below for details on what donations are needed, and how to donate. Mesi (thank you)!
