February - features Team Excel

Team Excel came to us on Feb. 5th 2018, they came with a mission to build a house for one of their sponsored children. This would be our 3rd cement home.

Team Excel got right to work helping to build this house. Pictured here is what we call a "Bucket-brigade" The buckets are filled with cement as they are passed down a line to get poured in the desired destination.

CaroleAnn, Tanya and Corey are ready for the buckets to come their way. Lots of breaks are needed while working in the hot sun. Thankfully this team stayed hydrated and took breaks in the shade. The kids loved when the missionaries could play with them.

Team Excel takes a visit to MOHI school.

Taking a walk in our community was fun with Team Excel. This was a visit to one of our sponsored child's home (Thedson) Although, all these other kids don't live here, they love being around the missionaries.

Pictured here is TiBoss who team leader Marie Richard (and her husband) who have sponsored him as he was growing up and now they sponsor TiBoss's daughter. A very BIG Thank you to all those who gave to help support the purchase of land and building of this home. We are looking forward to see what God has in store for TiBoss and his family.

House blessings are very import to us here at TOHH. Once a house is built for a family in our community we gather together to pray and dedicate this house and family to the Lord. It's a special time of fellowship were we hear from the family along with team members who share from the heart. 

February Birthday Celebrations!

God has proved by sending us Karen Baker...

We have been so blessed to have Karen Baker with us here at TOHH. She has made it possible for Angela to get back into the office and attend to more administrative duties. 

Karen has made the commitment to assist Nathan with his homeschooling, as his learning coach for 2nd grade. She will be with us till May. She is a beautiful addition to our family and she has been doing great! 
God is good and when everyone works together in their place, then things can really happen!

January 2018

Welcome 2018!

January was a good start to the new year. We love to celebrate birthdays and this month we celebrated 12 of our TOHH sponsored children. Most people in Haiti do not even know when their birthday is let alone celebrate with a party. We share the value of their life with them. We remind them that God created them and that they all have a purpose. We sing and celebrate their life and you see how happy they are to feel so special. Thank you all for your donations of cake mixes, frosting, party supplies and gifts. These children are blessed!

More work on the pavilion took place this month. We finished the concrete pour for the basketball/soccer area. A big THANK YOU to Excel Church and their members for donating toward the finishing expenses to our Community Pavilion area. We now have a safe place for kids in our community to play soccer and basketball.

Team Good News returns!

Team Good News from Wilton, NH has been one of our first supports. They have made a total of 5 trips since 2015 and has built 9 houses for families in our community. We are always so happy to have them return.

Team Good News - February 2018

This trip they came to build one wooden house and one cement house. They worked so hard to complete these tasks all while loving on the people in our community with the love of Jesus Christ.

This cement home is the second cement house TOHH has built. This family was so thankful to have Team Good News help. We found this family with the foundation built and living on the foundation with tarps over for shelter. (See photo below) Now, they have a safe and secure place to call home and they are so appreciative for this home.

Thank you Team Good News for changing lives through God's love in action.

December 2017: Ending A Successful Year

Happy New Year! As we move into 2018, we are so grateful for all that has been accomplished in 2017 thanks to your support! Here's a look at what December had in store for TOHH!

At the beginning of the month, we sent out Christmas cards to all our child sponsors! The kids worked so hard writing them, and were so excited for you to receive them! We loved seeing the photos that child sponsors sent to us of their letters, or their families opening up the letters.

Christmas and New Year's are important holidays in Haiti. People celebrate by eating "party food" that they would not eat at any other time of the year. "Party food" might include meat (such as chicken), or beet salad.

This December, we also had our largest holiday food distribution ever! A big thank you to those who sent food to their sponsored children. You provided holiday meals for this special time of year! Also, this was the first event to be held at the TOHH pavilion!

At the end of December, we welcomed the 2017 Holiday Sponsorship Team to Haiti! This team accomplished so much - from home visits to their sponsored children's homes to building tables and chairs for the pavilion to a holiday party for the sponsored kids, and even a beach trip!

We want to thank those who choose to sponsor a child during the month of December. Thank you St. Timothy's Church in Halifax for changing Fanel's life!

Also, a big congratulations to one of our kitchen staff members, Jocelyne, on her baby girl! Her name is Juventina, and she was born on December 26th.

November: Mission Teams, Birthdays, and Sponsored Kids

Happy last day of November! We are so grateful to have had three missionary teams visit us in Haiti in the past month. November was also packed with birthday parties, new sponsored children, gifts for kids, and so much more!

The first team we had in Haiti this November was Team 31. Shana, Makaylah, and Mary Jo spent their time working on the pavilion project. They helped level the land inside the pavilion, and pour concrete throughout the concrete pour, which lasted two days. They also spent time with the sponsored children, and Mary Jo even chose to sponsor a child!




The second team was Team Good News, from Good News Bible Church in New Hampshire. We are so grateful for the love and support from this church. Good News takes two annual mission trips to Haiti, and their church members sponsor many of the children in our community.

Team Good News spent their week in Haiti building a one-room house for a family in need. They also were able to spend time with their sponsored children, visit their homes, have a movie night, and more!

The third team we had in Haiti this November was Team Heywood. They came to build a home in Haiti, plan activities with the sponsored and community kids, and spend Thanksgiving in Haiti.

Caroleann was also able to work in the clinic at MOHI during the week, and Dana and Todd did some repairs on our community water well.

This month, we celebrated with our sponsored kids who birthdays in November. The kids were so excited to come have a party! They dressed up in their nicest clothes, and came for singing, cake, and presents! In Haiti, many people do not know their birthdays and, if they do, they are rarely celebrated.  Getting to celebrate their birthday is a special occasion for the kids!

This month, we also wished a very happy birthday to our co-founder and administrator, Angela!

We are so grateful to those who choose to sponsor a child in our community. We are excited for each child that gets a sponsor, knowing that that child's life will be changed by sponsorship. This month, David, Joanne Roobens, Jawius, Marline, Roudemika, and Jemima were all sponsored. Thank you to Mary Jo, Makaylah, Kelly, Lisa, Carleen, Jennifer and Devan for choosing to change a child's life this month!

October: Sponsored Kids, Mission Teams, and More!

We had a great October at Tree of Hope Haiti, with new children sponsored, missionary teams, and more!

This October, Angela, Gama, Nathan, and Nyah arrived back at TOHH in Haiti! They came with Cassandra, as well as Nancy and Marie Maude who spent a week at the TOHH Guesthouse in Grand-Goâve. 

Nancy works with Johnsley and Wilzer on their English skills.

We had an incredible week with them, and we are grateful to Nancy for spending time with a group of sponsored kids that struggle with writing, and another group of sponsored kids that have advanced English skills.

With Nancy and Marie Maude, we also had a birthday party for our sponsored kids with birthdays in the month of October! The kids came for the birthday celebration, complete with cake and presents!

This October, we had Carleen come stay at the TOHH Guesthouse too! We are so happy to have her become more involved at TOHH as our Sponsorship Liason. She is helping us with child sponsorship administration and child letters, among other things. Thanks, Carleen!

We are always grateful for those who chose to sponsor children. You truly are changing the life of the child you sponsor by providing them with not only education, but also a meal each school day, as well as everything they need to attend school, including uniforms, shoes, notebooks, textbooks, pencils, pens, erasers, and more.

So many letters from the kids!

This month, we are grateful to Saundra for sponsoring Daphney, to Chelle for sponsoring Thony, to Carleen for sponsoring Shinaïder, and to Lynn for sponsoring Loubens!

We love keeping children connected with their sponsors. This month, we mailed over 175 letters from sponsored children out to their sponsors. We were so happy that many people shared their photos of themselves with their letters from the children. 

At the end of October, we welcomed Team 31 at the TOHH Guesthouse in Haiti! This team will be working on the pavilion just outside of the missionary compound. We are so grateful to have them work with us while we build this exciting new piece of our TOHH story!
